40th Anniversary Of The First Mobile Phone Call

was 40 years ago today that the first phone call on a mobile phone was made. On
April 3rd 1973, Motorola held a demonstration in New
York at which Martin Cooper reportedly called competitors in AT&T on the
device to say "I'm ringing you just to see if my call sounds good at your
end". The press release which came out following the demonstration boasted
that “the unit weighs less than three pounds” and that it would allow
for phones to be used while “riding in a taxi, walking down the city’s streets,
sitting in a restaurant or anywhere else a radio signal can reach.”
The devise was nine inches tall with 35 minutes of battery
life for every 10 hours of charging. It was released for
general sale in 1983 with a price tag of $3,995

Short, an expert from the Institution of Engineering and Technology said “Since its first use 40 years ago, the
mobile phone has completely changed our lives”. He
explained that originally “It was made for men in suits in business, whereas
consumerisation followed much later. According to Short, the two
most significant developments in mobile phone technology have been the
widespread availability of devices and their ability to access the internet.
Today 5.2 billion people own a
mobile phone whereas only 4.1 billion own a toothbrush.......................we'll leave you to think about that :)

Hahaha look at the size of that phone. To think we have come all the way to having voip phone system. Technology is improving everyday at an insane rate.
